No one is surprised by how much Bill Gates cares about the environment and how people’s actions affect it.
Now, after three years of working with Samsung on the “Reinventing the toilet” project, the tycoon’s foundation has announced that the prototype of a toilet that is both very clean and good for the environment is ready to be used in homes.
The Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), which is Samsung Electronics’ research and development arm, has started working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on this project. The goal of this project is to create new technologies for managing human waste.

During three years of research and development, SAIT worked on the basic design and developed the component and modular technology. This led to the successful development of a prototype for home use. The product saves energy and has the ability to treat waste water. It also meets the performance requirements that Bill Gates set for the commercialization of a new toilet for home use.
Bill Gates and Jay Y. Lee, the vice president of Samsung Electronics, met to talk about the results of the “reinvented toilet” project and share ideas about how to help people around the world.
According to the World Health Organization and UNICEF, about 3.6 billion people have to use unsanitary toilets. Each year, about 500,000 children under the age of 5 die of diarrheal diseases because they don’t have access to clean water and good hygiene.
The smart toilet is meant to be a device that will give people access to sanitary facilities that are reliable, use energy efficiently, and let people use recycled water to get the most out of their resources. Solid waste is also dehydrated, dried, and burned. Liquid waste is cleaned through a biological process.

Samsung has made technologies like heat treatment and bioprocessing that can get rid of pathogens in human waste and make it safe for the environment for effluents and solids to be released.
The system makes it possible to reuse all of the treated water. Liquid waste is treated through a biological purification process, while solid waste is dehydrated, dried, and burned to ashes.
In order to make this technology available to everyone, Samsung plans to give developing countries royalty-free licenses to patents related to the project when it is ready to be sold.
The South Korean company will also keep giving the Gates Foundation advice to help get the technologies into mass production. After making the design more efficient for mass production, the two groups will work together to find industry partners who want to sell the technology.
Bill Gates has spent years paying for research into health and poop issues in order to come up with a new toilet that doesn’t need water.
Gates says that the invention is the result of the most important advances in sanitation in almost 200 years. The goal is for this toilet to be installed first in schools and then in homes. This will make the cost more affordable and save clean water since it might work without pipes.
