Is It Normal to Feel Bored with Your Life?

You’ve probably felt bored with your life before, and maybe even more than once. And it’s because there are times when we feel very energized and excited about different things. This could be meeting new people who interest us or starting new projects. However, after these times, they can turn into boring and routine times that can even make us feel down.

This is likely because nothing can beat the thrill of something new. For example, the excitement of the first date, a move that excites us, or even a well-deserved change of look, etc. But outside things can also make us feel more or less interested in our daily routines. It’s important to remember that there are times in life when, no matter what happens, you can only feel bored with your life.

Even if you’re not actually depressed, that feeling of boredom can make you feel sad, because if you’re bored with your life, you might not find much to motivate you. But have you thought that this might be a natural part of the life cycle of humans and all other living things?

Just remember that nature teaches us something new about how to deal with life’s cycles and mood swings every year. To understand it, let’s remember that in many parts of the world, the temperature starts to drop a lot in some months, like October and November. Every time it gets colder and darker earlier, and everything seems to change its rhythm. In the same way, our thoughts go through cycles.

A person can’t always be happy

Most of all, because when we are overstimulated and excited, we tend to act without thinking too much. The times when you get bored with your life can be a sign that it’s time to take a break and learn more about yourself. Even if you feel like you don’t have enough energy to keep up with your friends, work, or feel strong emotions during these stages, remember that this is normal and that your body needs a break to move on. Just like how nature and the seasons change from year to year.

You shouldn’t put too much pressure on yourself

If you start to get bored with your life, you shouldn’t put too much pressure on yourself to figure out why. Instead, you should just go with the flow of the stage you’re in. You might be able to feel other emotions again after some time, but you can’t live up to your full potential all the time without getting tired sometimes. Remember the example of thinkers like Alain de Botton and realize that you also have an autumn and a winter, but that these are probably just times when your rhythm changes and then blossoms again. After all, you’re a living person who deserves a chance to get back to your best.

During this stage, people’s ventral tegmental area (VTA), which is the main link in the so-called “cerebral reward circuit” and has neurons that connect to many parts of the brain and play a key role in motivation, desire, pleasure, and emotional evaluation, becomes much more active in the brain.

The ventral tegmental area is also turned on when we eat sweets, drink water, or even take drugs. In the same way, when you’re in a relationship that makes you feel good, your brain wants to release more dopamine, so it tells you to do what made you feel good in the first place. So, yes, love really is like a drug.

Because of this process, when you fall in love, you not only feel happy and excited, but you also want to spend a lot of time with your new partner. It’s also why you don’t see their flaws right away, because your brain wants you to get more pleasure from that source.

Also, just as the parts of the brain we’ve already talked about become more active, the opposite happens in other parts of the brain, like the frontal cortex, which is in charge of helping you make decisions based on logic.

Compassionate love

As time goes on, the intensity of these first feelings fades, and if the relationship keeps going well, the next stage, which experts call “compassionate love,” begins. At this point, you should feel more at ease and interested in your partner. This is because two hormones, oxytocin and vasopressin, are being made.

When you feel this way, it’s because these hormones make you feel safe, attached, and even protected. Also, the frontal cortex becomes less of a barrier to making decisions and reasoning. This makes it easier to see who your partner really is, which can lead to a breakup, but if it doesn’t, it can lead to a more honest and deep love.

According to CNBC Make It, Gates had a Q&A session with Harvard students where he said that when he was starting Microsoft, he had a lot of doubts and fear that his business would fail, but he eventually found a way to turn off that internal noise and Learn to trust your abilities and your idea.

The first point was learning to accept challenges

Do not compare yourself with others 

You should look at what your competitors are doing to get ideas for what you should do or what you can offer that others don’t. However, you should never look at others to compare yourself to them.

Some paths are longer and slower than others, but that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong or that you need to change how you do things. Comparing yourself to others can make you feel frustrated or overwhelmed, which can affect how you work and grow. It can also stop you from coming up with more creative or different ways to solve problems and challenges.

Don’t give up your dreams to follow someone else’s

In general, drinks like beer are high in calories, and if you drink a lot of beer, you could gain weight from it. On the other hand, drinking too much can make your face look puffy.

Even though it would be best to stop drinking all together, we suggest cutting back, not getting drunk all night, and not drinking every day.

Move on

People often start families in their 30s and use their cars as their main way to get around, which makes them less mobile. On the other hand, many people aren’t used to being active, which is important if you don’t want to gain weight.

Walking a little

When it comes to personal matters, you might find it hard to talk about strange things. After all, we can’t always say what we want to say as well as we’d like, and our lives always shape us. But there is something very simple that some people find hard to do: saying no.

This can be fixed pretty easily, as long as you are aware that you need to break the habit of always wanting to please others and not being able to say “no.” If you want to learn how to say no without feeling bad, keep reading. Time and health will be on your side.

Be Concise

If it’s hard for you to say no, and you always end up doing favors and jobs that you shouldn’t, you probably have a positive ego that you need to balance in order to think more of yourself. But maybe it’s hard for you to say no to people you like or in similar situations. In both cases, you need to learn to say “no,” and the best way to do that is to be clear and direct.

Why should you feel bad about saying no if you don’t have time to hang out with someone or do them a favor? Is that person going to love you more or less because of what you did? Do your feelings for each other depend on the favors you do for each other? The same thing happens at work. Does that subordinate or coworker take advantage of the fact that you can’t say no to anyone to get you to do their job?

In either case, you need to say no, both for your own good and for the good of the people around you, so don’t feel bad about it if you have a good reason. Doing it quickly and safely is best. It is the only way to keep the other person from trying to convince you or using emotional blackmail to get what they want.

Be Clear

Remember that you don’t have to explain why you’re saying no, so it’s up to you if you do or not. However, if you don’t talk to someone very often, it’s best to explain everything so they can’t assume anything else.

But if you want to feel better about saying no, especially in front of people you care about, it’s best to be clear about why you can’t stay or take care of something. Just say, “No, I’m sorry, I’m having lunch with my family that day,” or “No, I’m sorry, but I have to work all day.”

But if we’re talking about close friends, you can just say, “No, I don’t feel like meeting up. I’ve had a very hard week and I’m exhausted.” Wouldn’t you understand if someone told you that? Why would you be happy with less? Those who love you do so well. You will get it without having to argue.

Take your Time

We don’t always know what to say when they ask us something. If someone asks you to do something and you don’t know if you have time that day or if you can meet for lunch or dinner, you don’t have to say yes right away. When someone asks you to do them a favor that you would like to do but aren’t sure if you can, the same thing happens.

Again, be honest and don’t say anything that might make you look bad or make you feel bad if you can’t keep your word. Just say that you still don’t know if you can and that you’ll let them know as soon as you do.

Offers Alternatives

You can also say no without feeling bad by saying no and then suggesting an alternative. It’s one of the ways that assertive people like to say “no,” because being assertive is one of the best ways to talk to someone right now.

Saying “Sorry, I can’t meet this Monday, but if it works for you, we can meet next week” is an easy way to offer another choice. “Sorry, I don’t have time to help you in the morning, but if you’re not in a hurry, I do it in the afternoon.” If you find it hard to say “no,” offering an alternative will make you feel better and keep you from having guilt or problems with your conscience, even though you should never have those feelings for saying “no.”

Value your Time

And when you have doubts or feel like giving up, remember that you have to learn to value your time, which is the only thing we can’t buy and can’t get back once it’s gone. You have to make time for work, family, and yourself. You should be able to do what you want with your free time and not have to please everyone who asks you for something.

How to Ride a Bike to Work [What Experts Say]

Biking is a strange thing to do, and so is traveling by bike. From commuting to road racing, fat biking, gravel biking, downhill, trials, Peloton, and BMX, this may be the widest and most versatile sport out there.

But in the end, it all comes down to getting from point A to point B on two wheels. Even though cyclists in one discipline don’t often ride with cyclists in other disciplines, there is no doubt that sharing knowledge and different ways of riding can be helpful.

In October, we went to Utah to see Red Bull Rampage, which might be the scariest and most dangerous cycling event in the world. In one day, 16 competitors take turns bombing mountains on a course they built themselves. Since 2001, this event has been the most important race for the most extreme cyclists in the world. We’re talking about huge drops, flips, speeds you can’t even imagine, and aerobatics that make your stomach turn.

Oddly enough, in order to do all of that safely, drivers have to do some of the most careful and thoughtful driving on the planet.

That made us think. What can the Red Bull Rampage riders teach the average rider about riding to work if they can stay in control and follow the rules in such dangerous and exciting situations? We all know that a cyclist who doesn’t pay attention can die on the road. So, how can we use our mountain biking skills on the way to work?

Be present

“You have to pay attention to a lot of things, like the wind, keeping your speed up, and the big turns coming up. A lot of things take place. It’s easy to lose your focus. Just keep it in mind and tell yourself that you’ve got this and that you know what to do. Even if your trip is short, keep your cool. The most important thing is to trust yourself.”

Experts say these are the 4 most common reasons why you don’t grow at work.

You don’t like your job

Gugu Khazi, a talent consultant and executive coach, wrote on the LinkedIn blog that having a job you don’t like can make you lose interest in what you’re doing, which slows your growth because you don’t do it well or you do just enough to get by.

It doesn’t mean you have to quit your job and look for something you like better especially if it’s a time of crisis and getting another job is hard, but you do have to find something you like about what you do and a way to keep yourself motivated. This will help you find a better option that fits what you like and need.

No Feedback

Ascend from Harvard Business Review says that getting constructive feedback is important for growth because it can help you figure out where you have room for improvement or what you need to work on.

Feedback can also help you figure out what you don’t have, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what your boss wants to see from you in order to give you a promotion or new responsibilities at work. You can also find out how people in the company feel about you and if they think you are a key or indispensable person and it can help you discover what you need to work on more.

The job is too small for you

Khazi also said on LinkedIn that growth stops when you have a job that isn’t challenging, where you’ve already learned everything there is to learn, and where you’re no longer being challenged or given the chance to face new challenges. There’s nowhere to go.

If this happens to you, you should look for something else, like chances to work together in other parts of your company, more responsibilities, chances to be a mentor to someone else, or even a change that lets you keep moving forward.

No chances to get better

Harvard Business Review says, “Most medium and large organizations are based on a job hierarchy that shows how different jobs move up in the career ladder.” A marketing team, for example, might have more than one level. These are the levels that will give you chances to get better.

If there are no levels or you’re already at the top, it’s likely that you won’t be able to grow any more. You can either settle down, look for a new career or job, or make your own opportunities by looking for new projects, coming up with ideas, or, as Khazi suggests, being a mentor to others.

That doesn’t mean you should cut your nails so short that you show too much skin under the nail bed or get hangnails. Let your nails grow out until a bit of white shows up at the tips, and then cut just below that.

2. Use varnish or polish

Men are wearing nail polish more and more these days, so it’s a good time to get creative with your fingers. You can paint a layer of color on your nails to make them much less appealing to chew on. You could also put a coat of clear nail polish on your nails, which often acts as a shiny, protective layer on top.

3. Pay for the nail polish

Even though a DIY manicure is a step up from a regular trim, we still think it’s worth it to pay for regular professional work. By spending a half hour and some of your salary on a manicure, you give yourself another reason not to bite your nails: you PAID for that manicure, and you’re not going to let that money go to waste! You can even have a new coat of nail polish or lacquer put on, which will give a smoother finish than you could do yourself.

4. If nothing else works, try bad taste

Here’s where you bring out the big guns: nail polish that tastes bad. It’s the same as giving yourself a shock. Adding some bad things to happen works: In high school, I stopped biting my nails by putting a rubber band on my wrist and snapping it every time I bit a nail. But an even better way to make it hurt to bite your nails is to put on nail polish that is meant to taste bitter. This will cause spasms every time you put your fingers to your lips. It may also help you stop biting your hangnails.
