New York Governor Kathy Hochul Prioritizes Age 12-17 For Vaccination

New York is one of the states that have been doing great when it comes to vaccination. However, the vaccination process has slowed down in the state but there are people who are yet to receive even one dose of vaccine. Currently, some vaccines in the US are eligible for the age group between 12 and 17. Most of the students in this age group have not received the vaccine yet. New York Governor Hochul revealed that efforts are being made by her administration to get this age group vaccinated. She said, “We’re moving mountains to get the vaccine into our communities—particularly those that have low vaccination rates—and to the 12 to 17 age group. However, every eligible New Yorker should take the vaccine, and that’s how we’ll restore our state’s economy to full strength and build prosperity for everyone.”

73 Percent Of New Yorkers Above 18 Are Fully Vaccinated

As far as the vaccination is concerned, 73.3 percent of New Yorkers above the age of 18 are fully vaccinated. The numbers will go down if we include the pool of people between 12-17. If we include the complete population of New York, then the percentage of fully vaccinated people drops to 61.9 percent.

Hochul urged the remaining eligible population to get their vaccine shot ASAP to decrease the spread of the virus. Moreover, she said, “New Yorkers are still getting infected with COVID-19 every day, and the key to ending this pandemic for good is to increase our vaccination rate.”
