Schools With Mask Mandate Better Protected Against COVID, Says CDC

There is a big debate going on in the US regarding the implementation of the mask mandate in schools. Democrats are all for mask mandates as they think it will help in limiting the spread of the virus. On the other hand, Republicans think mandates violate the personal freedom of people and should be avoided. Now the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC has released a statement saying that schools with mask mandates have shown lesser outbreaks of COVID. Moreover, CDC said, “These studies found that school districts without a universal masking policy in place were more likely to have COVID-19 outbreaks.”

CDC Tags Mask Mandate As Important For Reopening Of Schools

Schools across the US closed down due to the COVID outbreak last year. Since then, states have been trying their best to reopen schools in a safe manner. Most states in the US have now gone ahead with the reopening of schools. However, many schools have not implemented the mask mandate yet. As per CDC, the mask mandate has proven to be an effective prevention strategy against COVID. The statement further read, “Universal masking is an important component in the recommended layered prevention strategy for schools, and this study continues to demonstrate that facemasks when used as part of the larger strategy can reduce spread of COVID-19 and prevent outbreaks in schools.”
