Fallbrook man arrested after body found buried on property pleads not guilty to murder

A 29-year-old Fallbrook man pleaded not guilty to murder on Wednesday after a body was found buried in the land he lived in last week.

According to criminal charges filed in Vista Superior Court, Nicholas Andrew Berg has also been charged with two car theft-related charges.

If convicted of all charges, he faces 33 years of life, said Deputy District Attorney Nikki Estrada.

No new details of the case were revealed during the indictment, and the victim’s name was not disclosed.

Prosecutors allege that the victim was killed on July 12 or 13.

On July 14, a sheriff’s agent found the body buried in Berg’s land on Southridge Drive, south of Live Oak Park Road.
