North Carolina Governor Criticizes Lt. Governor For Anti-LGBTQ Comment
North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson has come under the scanner for his recent comments about LGBTQ people. He said, “There’s no reason anybody anywhere in America should be telling any child about transgenderism, homosexuality, any of that filth.” North Carolina is a state where the Governor is a Democrat while the Lt. Governor is Republican. Governor Roy Cooper criticized Mark for his comments and made it clear that he does not support such regressive comments. After repeated calls for resignation and apology from the public, Mark has refused to step down and apologize for his comments.

Lt. Governor Does Not Speak For North Carolina, Says Roy Cooper
Governor Cooper has made it clear that the views expressed by Mark does not reflect the thinking of everyone in North Carolina. Cooper acknowledged that it would be appropriate for Mark to resign but the Lt. Governor has clearly refused to do so. Moreover, he said, “It would be appropriate, but he’s made it clear that he’s not. But let me make something clear. He does not speak for North Carolina. We are a welcoming and inclusive state and we want the entire nation and the world to know that.”
