Honda has recently released a teaser image of the next City-Hybrid e:HEV for the Indian market, the 2022 City-Hybrid Honda e:HEV. The hybrid vehicle is expected to be released in India soon. The teaser displays the car’s rear end with the e:HEV and ZX logo badges. The video also suggests that the new City Hybrid will be available in non-RS models.
The Japanese company intended to release the vehicle before the epidemic. However, due to the epidemic, the preparations had to be postponed. The automobile is scheduled to return to the Indian market after a two-year sabbatical. The vehicle is scheduled to be unveiled on April 14, 2022.
The automobile’s appearance will not alter significantly because it will be based on the top-end form of the car. The only noticeable modification in appearance is the addition of black highlights to the car’s exterior. However, as implied by the name, the car’s powertrain has undergone major alterations.
Honda’s i-MMD hybrid technology will power the new City Hybrid — Honda e:HEV — which is a combination of an IC petrol engine and two electric motors. The automobile will be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 98hp.
One of the two optional electric motors will power the City Hybrid’s front wheels via a one-of-a-kind single-speed transmission, while the other will act as an integrated starter generator. The electric motor powering the front wheels can generate 109 horsepower and 253 Newton-meters of torque.
The complete powertrain may be operated in three modes: gasoline-only, gasoline-electric hybrid, and electric-only. In the petrol-only type, only the 1.5-litre petrol engine will supply power, whereas the battery and motor combination will provide power in the electric-only mode, giving the car a limited range based on the charge remaining in the battery.
