Meghan Markle recently gave a 15-minute speech on social media and its addiction among people. She drew the people to the time she had an account, but she decided to delete it because she thought it was not helping her. Moreover, she said:

“I have for my own self-preservation not been on social media for a very long time. I had a personal account years ago which I closed down.”

Meghan revealed that her conscious decision to stay away from social media had helped her in keeping good mental health. It has kept her out of all the negativity that is circulated against her. She said:

“Then we had one through the institution in our office in the UK. That wasn’t managed by us, that was a whole team. That comes with the territory for the job, I have made a personal choice to not have an account so I don’t know what’s out there and for many ways, that’s helpful for me.”

Meghan Markle feels social media has become a big problem for now as people are obsessed and addicted to it. It is taking time away from them, which they could have used productively. She said:

“I have a lot of concerns for people that have become obsessed with it and so much a part of our daily culture for so many people that it’s an addiction, like many others very things in this world.”

Meghan Markle tried to paint a picture where she kept drug users and social media addicts at the same level. She feels it is an equally important problem as these platforms are designed in a way to give people addicted to it. Moreover, she said:

“People who are addicted to drugs are users and people who are on social media are called users. And there is something in there algorithmically creating this obsession that I think is very unhealthy for people.”
