San Diego — Firefighters and veterinarians worked to rescue horses and riders after falling down a steep path down the Carmel Valley embankment on Thursday.
According to the San Diego Fire Department, the accident occurred in the wilderness about three-quarters east of Route 56, away from Carmel Valley Road.
Neither the animals nor the women riding them were seriously injured, officials report.
Around 4 pm, I saw a rescue team standing beside the horse, waiting for the helicopter to return the animal to a safe place.
